30th Belfast Cub Scout Pack
30th Pack was founded in March 1954 (Audrey Beggs, then a young assistant with the newly started Pack and later it's Akela for more than thirty years, is now our Group President). The Cubs meet on a Thursday night in the Jack Britton Hall at Gilnahirk Presbyterian Church. There are currently 35 Cub Scouts divided up between 6 sixes:- Blue, Brown, White, Red, Yellow and Green. We have 4 Leaders, our Akela, David, Lorna (Baloo), Jan (Bagherra) and Donna (Haithi) and several young leaders also join in with activities and camps, including Adam and Graeme, two of our former Cubs who are now members of the Gilnahirk Explorer Unit, and Sara, who is in the Ranger Guides.
A typical Thursday night's programme provides a lively mix of games and badgework. Special Theme Nights and visits are also popular. The Pack gained the highest number of Activity badges (356) within the District during 2003-2004 and several of the Cubs earned the Adventure Crest Award, the highest progress award in Cub Scouting. We have now switched to the 'new' Cub Scout Programme and are working on the new challenge awards, activity badges and Chief Scout's Silver Award. Last year, the Pack also participated in the ScoutLink project, and has linked with 5th/22nd Clare CSI.

The Pack is at the fore-front of Competitions at District, County and NI Level; 30th are current holders of the District Quiz, 5-a-side football and Swimming Trophies, and also of the NI Cub Scout Challenge. The Pack has won the Belfast County Flag four times in the last 6 years.
30th Pack usually hold three weekend camps each year together with one week long summer camp every August at a destination in the British Isles. This summer we are joining with the 30th Troop for a special camp in North Wales to mark the Group's 50th Anniversary.
